2ds agoGov. Phil Murphy has announced his latest plan to create more jobs in New Jersey.
The plan, laid out on Wednesday at the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical School in East Brunswick, is called “Jobs NJ.” Murphy says that the program will help prepare students for jobs and also get the state’s education system in line to meet the needs of employers and workers.
The governor touched on the subject on Tuesday during his 2020 State of the State address. He said while touring the school Wednesday that the program is the brainchild of many in the workforce community.
“We developed this plan with the input of many stakeholders, from businesses and educators to labor and community leaders, and using insights from national workforce development experts,” Murphy said.
The Jobs NJ program will help with job training and skills for those in under-served communities, including new immigrants or those who were once incarcerated.
Murphy went on to say that the Jobs NJ Program is the answer to the question he often hears from businesses around the country – Do you have the workforce we need?
