Gov. Scott: Restoring power is top priority in Florida
Restoring power to millions of people is a top priority for authorities in Florida.
President Donald Trump and the first lady, along with Vice President Mike Pence, saw the devastation first hand in Florida.
"I came down to see FEMA, to see the Coast Guard, to see the Army, the Marines, everybody,” says President Trump. “The Navy, the job that everybody has done is incredible."
While the recovery effort is underway in many areas, getting access to the most severely damaged spots is proving to be a problem.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott addressed the progress during the president's visit, agreeing that restoring power is a top priority.
"We are working hard to get the power back on,” says Scott. “We've restored, our utilities have restored over four millions homes already. We're down to about 25-percent of our homes. Every person in our state wants their power back. We all want our power back."
As for the airports, Miami International Airport is about 60 percent operational and is expected to be completely up and running by Sunday.
The port of Miami is also now open and fully operational.
