While most Greenwich High School seniors will get their diplomas in June, one of them put on his cap and gown Friday for an early graduation.
The ceremony for Ferris El-Tayyeb was held seven weeks early so his father, Akram El-Tayyeb, could see him graduate.
The elder El-Tayyeb is nearing the end of his battle with gastrointestinal cancer and is not expected to make it to the school's ceremony in June. His wife, Denise, came up with the idea, contacted the school and administrators quickly worked to grant the family's wish.
The El-Tayyebs say they are so grateful to the school for making the early graduation happen. News 12 is told that several community businesses donated flowers and food for the ceremony.
