Rain showers forced a delayed start at Yankee Stadium Tuesday, a day after April snowfall postponed the 2018 season's home opener — but the Bronx Bombers went on to win 11-4 behind an 8-RBI performance from Didi Gregorious.
The Yankees shortstop homered twice -- each time with two men on -- and went 4 for 4. He scored three times and walked once.
Tommy Kahnle got the win after Jordan Montgomery left in the sixth inning. Ray's right-hander Austin Pruitt took the loss after allowing 6 runs, 5 of them earned.
A day earlier, the snowstorm dumped up to 6 inches of snow in some parts of the tri-state area so the game against the Tampa Bay Rays was initially rescheduled for Tuesday at 4:05 p.m.
By 3:30, the team's official Twitter account announced that "today's game will not start on time."
Outfielder Aaron Judge said the weather was toying with his emotions before the game.
"Can't sleep the night before, you wake up to it's snowing outside," he said. "Now you come here, and it's raining."
