The Council on American-Islamic Relations is asking officials to increase patrols near a mosque after a threatening, anti-Muslim letter was received last week.
The letter was delivered to New Haven Islamic Center. The letter was addressed to "the children of Satan." It said, "There's a new sheriff in town, President Donald Trump, and he is going to do to you Muslims what Hitler did to Jews."
The letter had a New Haven return address, but was postmarked Santa Clarita, California.
An identical handwritten letter, signed "Americans for a Better Way," has reportedly been sent to mosques in other states, including Rhode Island, Georgia, Florida, and California.
