Five people, including three Bridgeport City Council members and the vice chair of the city's Democratic Party, are expected to be arraigned Thursday in connection to the city's 2023 Democratic mayoral primary.
During that race, Wanda Geter-Pataky was seen on surveillance video putting absentee ballots into drop boxes in Bridgeport. Geter-Pataky faces 92 counts of election crimes. In total, the five suspects face 156 charges of ballot crimes.
Along with Geter-Pataky, City Council members Alfredo Castillo, Maria Pereira and Jazmarie Melendez are expected in court.
Prior to court, Castillo insisted that voters lied to investigators about filling out their ballots. Castillo said he was just getting out the vote and that party leaders were well aware of how he operated.
Margaret Joyce, a campaign worker from Stratford, will also face a judge Thursday.
