A group of Fairfield property owners, businesses, nonprofit and religious institutions filled an appeal against the Connecticut Siting Council's decision on United Illuminating's monopole project.
The groups filed the appeal on Thursday citing potential impacts to nearly 1,000 historic properties in Bridgeport, Fairfield and Southport.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation says the project will have a devastating impact on 647 historic properties located within the City of Bridgeport, 130 historic properties located within the Town of Fairfield and 195 historic properties located within the Village of Southport.
The appeal comes just three days after Fairfield town officials filed an appeal challenging the legality of the Connecticut Siting Council’s decision on Feb. 16.
The decision in February granted UI the construction of overhead transmission lines along a new route to the north side of Metro-North train tracks.
