Gusty overnight winds bring down trees, power lines across parts of Connecticut

The outage total has dropped from its peak early this morning, but there are still some outages reported across Westport, Greenwich, Stamford and Ridgefield.

The overnight wind has made for a morning of cleanup for emergency crews.
A giant fir tree that lined Hillandale Road in Westport was completely taken down by the wind and it brought some power lines down with it.
Westport firefighters say the incident happened around 3 a.m.
The outage total has dropped from its peak early this morning, but there are still some outages reported across Westport, Greenwich, Stamford and Ridgefield due to the downed power lines.
Firefighters are reminding residents that when it comes to downed wires, treat them like they are life and keep a safe distance.
In addition to Hillandale Road in Westport, parts of Partrick and Prospect roads are shut down due to downed trees and wires.
Detours are in place, but there is no time frame for when the roads will reopen.
