Downtown Stamford experienced severe flooding due to Thursday?s rain storm.
Police say the storm drains couldn?t keep up with the rain leaving standing water at dozens of intersections in the area. Drivers were trapped in the process.
Stamford police shut down several roads. They say they were surprised by the quick onset of the storm and extent of the flooding. The water was waist high in some areas.
Police say nobody was hurt but many were looking for temporary places to stay because of the high standing water.
Flooding in Darien was also severe in some areas. Police went door-to-door to residents experiencing flooding on Intervale Road.
