Many towns in southwestern Connecticut held ceremonies dedicated to veterans of the United States Armed Forces today.
Dozens of ROTC, junior ROTC students and local residents were in attendance at a Veterans Day ceremony in Norwalk where those that served with the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard were honored.
Norwalk Mayor Dick Mocchia, a veteran himself, said this day synthesizes the emotion that we have for all our veterans and their families.
"If it wasn't for the veterans being where they were, whether it was in Anzio, or D-Day, or Iwo Jima or at Vietnam and now the war on terrorism?we might not be here today," he said.
The ceremony took place outside Norwalk City Hall and was organized by the Norwalk Veterans Memorial Committee.
