A mixed-income high-rise apartment building will replace the demolished, castle-like P.S. 31 along the Grand Concourse, officials say.
The city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development and the New York City Housing Development Corporation announced that they've chosen a developer to lead the project.
It includes a 24-story tower.
Councilman Rafael Salamanca Jr. says the project will help residents in District 17 benefit from the vacant piece of land.
He says he will be hosting public meetings on the issue at his office later this year.
