With hurricane season officially beginning on Sunday, workshops are being held at Home Depot stores across the country in an effort to make sure people are prepared.
The stores are selling survival kits, which are equipped with batteries, flashlights and walkie-talkies to be used during power outages.
Attendees at the workshop were told to prepare for the worst, regardless of the forecast. They learned tips like keeping valuables off ground-level and were shown how to tape and board up windows.
Store employees also offered customers advice on how to properly use a generator during weather emergencies.
