Homeowners in Bridgeport rallied over the weekend to protest what they call illegal foreclosures.
A group of residents say they were wrongly forced out of their homes and say they're fighting for tougher laws to prevent this from happening to others.
The group claims that shortcuts and runarounds by banks have cost many of their homes and is causing overcrowding at shelters.
"People's civil rights are stripped, their properties are stripped and there's no recourse because it's at the judge's discretion," says Jeryl Gray, of Stratford.
The group says that several federal lawmakers have pledged to help them fight this problem.
