A fellow Democratic political ally declared Tuesday that he is supporting Senator Joe Lieberman (D-CT) even though he is running as an independent.Lieberman announced he would be running as an independent for re-election after losing the Democratic primary last week. House Speaker Jim Amann (D-Milford) announced his support for Lieberman, making him one of the first high-ranking elected Democrats to do so. Amann says he sides with the most experienced candidates on both sides of the aisle. He believes the Democratic primary winner, Ned Lamont, does not have the experience to get the job done.Former state Democratic Chair George Jepsen says he doesn?t believe the personal relationship between Amann and Lieberman will dramatically affect the outcome of the election. He admits Lamont is more appealing and has a larger backing party than Lieberman.
