A Stamford dermatologist is urging people to protect themselves against the sun this summer.
Dr. Omar Ibrahimi says UV rays from the sun along with tanning beds are the primary cause of skin cancer. He recommends applying a water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and reapply it at least every two hours.
"…Try to do activities earlier in the day or later in the day. Those peak hours between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. are when the UV index is really high and when the majority of sun damage is done to the skin," he says.
