Former Republican presidential candidate and current United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson gave a talk on civility Monday evening in Stamford.
Carson spoke for about 45 minutes to a packed house at the Ferguson Library. His talk was full of anecdotes and even humor. He did not mention President Donald Trump until the last seconds of his address. He also touched on HUD plans and policy.
While some members of the audience were fans of Carson, who was an author and speaker before entering politics, others said they were skeptical about what a member of Trump's Cabinet could say about civility.
"It's up to all of us...not Democrats, not Republicans, not independents, to reject the voices of division and hatred," Carson said.
Carson also said the president has a good sense of humor.
