Incumbent Sen. Richard Blumenthal won a second term against two opponents this Election Day.
Blumenthal won against state Rep. Dan Carter, a Republican, in the battle for his U.S. Senate seat. Libertarian candidate Richard Lion was also on the ballot.
Blumenthal cast his vote in Greenwich at Glenville School. He said it was exciting to see so many people exercising their right to vote.
"The huge turnout today shows that people really trust democracy, and we have an obligation to make it work better than it has, come together and end this period of divisive venomous conflict and be sure we work together," said Blumenthal.
