First responders from nine different communities battled weather conditions and tough terrain to rescue an injured hiker in Litchfield County.

The hiker suffered a leg injury on the Appalachian Trail in Kent Tuesday.

Responders were able to get to the scene and provide medical attention, but the area was so remote the hiker had to be carried out.

There were two bouts of torrential rain, and it took a total of seven hours to bring the hiker safely down the trail.
