An investigation by the inspector general has found Stratford police officers were justified in using deadly force in a roadside shooting nearly two years ago.
The shooting happened in February of 2021 at the intersection of Main Street and Main Street Putney.
Investigators say the officers shot Christopher Hagans after he pointed a gun at them while attempting to run from a traffic stop.
They say Hagans fired his gun one time before he was fatally wounded by police.
Police had been on their way to arrest Hagans for strangulation, disorderly conduct and home invasion charges in an incident involving his girlfriend and neighbor.
