Multiple agencies will be hosting gun buyback events.

Stamford Police Department will have its event on Oct. 5.

People will be able to turn in their weapons from 10 a.m. to 1p.m. with 100% anonymity.

"There's no contracts, no conversions, there's no questions. They come in and just drop off the weapons to us,” said Lt. Jerry Junes.

The department will be giving gift cards as well, depending on the kind of weapon turned in.

They will also have safes available for legal gun owners.

"Safes can be a little bit expensive, so here's an opportunity to be able to ensure you that you have the safety within your home,” said Lt. Junes.

The department will be holding a press event on Friday to speak about their efforts regarding gun safety. It will be joined by other municipalities and organizations.
