Career counselors say that despite the coronavirus pandemic - there are still jobs available, especially for those who are just graduating college this spring.
James Mazich is about to graduate from Quinnipiac University with a civil engineering degree. He landed a job with a construction company doing critical road projects, and so far, it hasn't slowed down on hiring.
"Hasn't really bothered me at all because... my company hasn't changed our day-to-day operations at all," he says.
Lucas Sumby will also be graduating from Quinnipiac University, and already has a job lined up at Yale-New Haven Hospital in the intensive care unit.
"We're in such a high demand right now that it shouldn't be difficult once we get our names out there, get our resumes in," he says.
Career counselors say students will have to be more creative and show more hustle to find a job.
"It's always been about networking," says Lila Carey, with Quinnipiac University Career Development. "So many of the jobs are found through who you know."
Quinnipiac career counselors are telling students to create their own work while they're job hunting, like podcasts, YouTube videos or social media content to show initiative.
"Our students are going to have to be open to lots of different types of different styles of work opportunities," Carney says.
Career counselors also say that flexibility is key, and instead of looking for a specific job, search for companies that are still hiring.
