The Bronx's two Division I baseball teams, the Manhattan College Jaspers and Fordham University Rams, are preparing for their 116th meeting.
The Jaspers are hot off a 16-game winning streak and are 27-10 overall, allowing them to take first place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. "It's been a great run for us ... We've just been getting good pitching performances and playing very good defense," Jaspers head coach Kevin Leighton said.
The Rams have 80 wins, 30 losses and five ties in the All-Time Series, and have a 23-18 overall record. Fordham is fourth in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
"[The matchup puts] a little more juice on the schedule, because it's Fordham-Manhattan and the proximity, but you know, not being in the same conference anymore, it's lost some of its luster," Rams head coach Nick Restaino said about the Bronx battle. However, many alumni still look forward to the game.
