After
nearly a two-week pause, pharmacies in western Connecticut are once again
administering doses of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.
The
Food and Drug Administration recommended the pause on April 13 after
six female patients showed serious blood clots. One of them died.
Milford
Pharmacy Manager Dr. Noura Jeblawi says the location has been busy vaccinating
residents since the Johnson & Johnson vaccine came back online.
"They
do trust the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] and FDA of how they
stated that the benefits overweight the risk,” she said.
Nelson
Pickering says he requested the Johnson & Johnson vaccine despite the
recent scare.
“I'm a
little nervous. But I think the chances that one of those severe symptoms are
going to happen are pretty low,” he said.
Volunteers
say many patients are still opting for the convenience of one-dose protection.
