Gov. Ned Lamont announced he is tripling the number of Connecticut troops heading to Washington, D.C. to help with security leading up to the inauguration.

Gov. Lamont says a total of 300 guardsmen have been activated for the deployment, which will include security patrols as well as explosives detection.
A total of 25,000 National Guard Troops are expected in Washington, D.C. between now and Inauguration Day.
