Hikes are a great way to start off the new year — but why stop there?
In this week’s Road Trip: Close To Home, we head to Litchfield to discover the benefits of nature, even when it’s chilly out.
Among the choices for a hike is Graham Thompson Preserve’s Marsh Hawk Trail — which adds up to about 50 acres in total.
The preserve is an old farm that includes 40 garden plots for community gardeners.
The Litchfield Land Trust has a total of five preserves, totaling over 4,000 acres of preserved land.
Officials say winter is still a great time for a hike because of the refreshing feeling it can bring — so long as you dress for the conditions.
