The Road to Rio started in southwestern Connecticut for one 18-year-old water polo player.
Thomas Dunstan, from New Canaan, is heading to the Olympics as one of the 13 members of the U.S. men's water polo team.
News 12 Connecticut spoke with Dunstan's coach, Ulmis Iordache, who has been working with him since he was 10 years old.
"Thomas is one of the success stories that shows every kid involved in aquatics around here, they can make it all the way up to the big stage," said Iordache.
Dunstan has been training for years at the Greenwich Aquatics Program at the YMCA.
