A local state representative is taking a stand to try and block a proposed 5 percent rate hike on rail service across Connecticut.
Republican Gail Lavielle, of Wilton, is circulating a petition urging the Department of Transportation to block that request.
Lavielle says rail riders will not see any improvements in service, so they should not be asked to foot the bill.
She's planning to ride the train in the coming days to collect signatures.
The DOT is holding a series of public hearings this month to discuss the potential rate hike.
