School is out and camp season is underway. News 12 Connecticut spoke with two Greenwich moms from Local Moms Network about things to keep in mind while taking kids to camp.
Asya Geller says packing a simple lunch is a good way to get kids to eat different food groups.
"It doesn't have to be a fancy lunch. It doesn't have to be a hot lunch. But trying to get your fruit and vegetables, your dairy and protein and that can be in the form of hummus, little cheeses or string cheeses. Things kids love to eat but they're still getting their protein, their veggies, their dairy, little carbs." she said.
Layla Lisiewski says there are a few important summer essentials necessary to pack as well.
"Of course, bathing suits and towels are very important but also we tend to forget the goggles. Safety is number one so before all of that we put sunscreen on our kids...and then we add some in the bag so that they can reapply when needed. We have big canaster of water, we also have caps to make sure they're not blinded by the sun, and if they're at the beach or anything like that, we have water shoes as well as an additional snack," she said.
