Some southwestern Connecticut theaters and stage companies have seen an increase in acts and business since the start of the slumping economy.
The producing director for Fairfield Theatre Company says people need a distraction from all the bad economic news, so they have been willing to buy tickets to local shows.
Some of the acts set to come to The Klein in Bridgeport include Jewel, Tower of Power and the Smothers Brothers.
Directors say some artists are also reducing their fees.
