Gov. Dannel Malloy (D-Conn.) says he will fire and attempt to prosecute any state employees who wrongly received benefits related to Tropical Storm Irene.
Malloy has ordered an investigation into allegations that the workers collected benefits from the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
Malloy says that an audit last week found 800 employees received aid based on falsification of their income.
The governor says that the Department of Social Services will be launching an even more thorough investigation into possible fraud.
