Police say a man was accidentally shot in the thigh early Wednesday as the FBI delivered search and arrest warrants to dozens of suspects throughout southwestern Connecticut.
Local and state police aided in the raids, which they say were launched to bust drug rings in the area. During the process, a suspect was accidentally shot in the leg by a federal agent around 6 a.m.
A spokesperson from the U.S. Attorney's Office released a statement about the incident, which says, ?During today's execution of federal search and arrest warrants, an FBI special agent unintentionally discharged his weapon and the subject of one of the warrants was injured.?
Police say the man was shot once in the thigh. A federal spokesman says the incident will be investigated by an independent team.
