A Fairfield man is facing numerous charges after police say he was going the wrong way on the highway.
Police say Thomas Plesz was driving the wrong way in the southbound lanes of Route 8 in Shelton just after midnight.
They say he intentionally hit their cruiser.
He is charged with several offenses including DUI.
