A Monroe man is facing numerous charges Tuesday in connection with the July 4 death of a Bridgeport toddler.
Clayton Luf, 41, was charged with second-degree manslaughter, reckless driving, and DUI after being taken into custody Monday night at his Glenbrook Drive home. Police say Luf was driving on Connecticut Avenue when he lost control of his car and drove onto the sidewalk in front of the Connecticut Food Market, pinning 20-month-old Kay?Anah Brayboy underneath. According to police, Luf had more than three times the legal blood-alcohol limit at the time of the crash.
Kay?Anah, called KK by family and friends, was hospitalized after the accident and died six days later. KK?s family had complained that police were taking too long to make the arrest.
?I feel that it's finally justice, that's all I wanted, is to see him behind bars. He killed an innocent little girl from drinking and driving,? Lamar Norris, KK?s uncle, said. ?I want him to live with the struggle I live with every day. I just want him to feel the pain that I?m feeling.?
Police say Luf posted $75,000 bond. He is expected in court on July 30.
