A man is in critical condition Thursday after a shooting on a New Haven Union Station platform.

The MTA says the shooting happened at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say a fight broke out on the train station platform. They say upon exiting, one of two suspects shot a man multiple times before fleeing the area.

MTA Communications Director Tim Minton issued a statement saying in part, "The investigation is active and ongoing, with no active threat to Metro-North riders or employees."

The victim was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital.

The suspects are still at large. Anyone with information is asked to call New Haven police.
