A deadly crash on I-95 backed up traffic for hours on Thursday.
State police say a garbage truck driver had just dropped off a dumpster at the Fairfield rest stop on the northbound side around 10 a.m. Thursday.
They say the lifting arm that held the dumpster was never put down - so it hit an overpass near Exit 23 and caused the truck to roll over. Rescue crews said they did everything they could to save John Collett, 32, from Wallingford who was trapped in the truck's cab.
Officials from the state Department of Transportation said there was significant damage to the webbing of the overpass.
State police are still investigating the crash.
