Police are searching for the suspect responsible for fatally stabbing a 26-year-old man early Friday morning in Wakefield.

Authorities have now identified the victim as 26-year-old Marques Brown.

Authorities say Brown was stabbed in his neck just after 6:30 a.m. on White Plains Road. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

An eyewitness shared photos with News 12 that were too graphic to show in full. The images showed the victim lying on the concrete with blood surrounding his head as first responders attempted lifesaving measures. The witness said the man showed no signs of life.

Jose, who was on his way to work when he came across the scene moments after the stabbing, described what he saw.

“I saw a trail of blood on the floor and thought that was strange,” he said. “I looked to my right and saw a guy laid out. The minute I saw him, I knew he was already gone. It’s disturbing, especially in this area.”

Police describe the suspect as a man in his 30s who left the scene on a bike.

Anyone with additional information is urged to call 1-800-577-TIPS.
