Police searched the Norwalk River Friday after a man disappeared there following a fight with two other men.
Investigators say they were called to the area of Wall and Main streets around midnight to investigate the altercation. They noticed two men climbing out of the Norwalk River and another swimming south toward the Wall Street overpass.
Police say they lost sight of the man who was still in the river and eventually sent divers to find him. The man was not found, and it's unclear whether he got out of the water.
Friends of the missing man say they have not been successful in contacting him. One friend says the man was at a nearby bar when he went outside for a smoke and somehow wound up being chased by a group of men.
Police say they did question the two men who got out of the water, but would not confirm how the missing man became involved.
