A man's body was found in the Beardsley Park pond Sunday afternoon.
Two fishermen reported seeing the body in a remote area of the northern part of the pond, known as Bunnell’s Pond, around 4 p.m.
Police say the Bridgeport Fire Department removed the body from the pond.
They say the remains were extremely decomposed and believe the body may have been in the water for a week or more.
The body was fully clothed and contained several personal items.
Detectives do not believe foul play was involved.
Detectives are working with the medical examiner to determine the man’s identity and notify his family.
