Mayor Bill Finch met with young business owners today to discuss the future of downtown Bridgeport.
About a dozen young small business entrepreneurs spoke with Mayor Finch in the financial district to discuss how they could be beneficial to the city's economic redevelopment.
The mayor says research has shown young business owners have attracted large numbers of customers in the downtown Bridgeport area in the past and that they have brought a more youthful energy to the district.
Finch says that he plans to give the young business owners any additional resources they need to succeed.
One of the ideas that came out of Wednesday's meeting was the possibility of the city developing a garden trail with public art as a way to attract more people to the area.
The mayor plans to hold additional meetings with the business owners beginning early this summer.
