Families of developmentally disabled individuals delivered a petition to the capital Thursday to protest proposed mental health service budget cuts.
The petition to Gov. Dannel Malloy was signed by more than 11,000 people demanding that he save the programs that help their children.
The Star Center could be negatively impacted by the proposed cuts, which could take away most of its funding and its ability to help disabled individuals obtain jobs or housing.
When asked about the proposed budget cuts, Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman said the budget is still not finalized and that the state knows how important programs are for autistic and developmentally disabled people.
