It was a frustrating day for commuters throughout southwestern Connecticut Wednesday after they spent hours on Metro-North trains.
Train service was completely halted on the New Haven Line after wires were torn down between Greenwich and Cos Cob around 4:30 a.m. As a result, a train became stuck and service was stopped between New Haven and Grand Central.
Many commuters sat on the trains for hours. In some cases, buses were brought in to get people off the tracks.
Service was back on track by 9 a.m., but there were still extensive delays. Metro-North is looking into how those wires were torn down.
