September starts with sunshine and seasonable temperatures

Storms could develop by the end of the week, but it’s nothing serious. Drought conditions grow.

Dry weather prevails this week. Aside from tropical activity, September usually trends on the drier side. On average, for the month, 3.62 inches of rain could collect in our rain gauges.
This week looks fairly quiet. There will be two weather systems we'll keep tabs on. The first one swings through late Thursday into Friday. There is a 25% chance (and I'm being generous with those odds) that some rainstorms could pivot through late Thursday night into Friday morning. This is expected to occur primarily during the overnight hours with minimal impact.
The next system will be right on the heels of the first one. Saturday's odds of rain are a little better. There is still plenty of time to see how this weather pattern evolves.
RIP CURRENT WARNING:
It’s “local summer” at the Jersey Shore, so lifeguards are limited. There is a moderate risk of rip currents in our oceans. Please be safe and smart at the beaches. Know how to identify rip currents and stay away from them or only swim at a guarded beach.
