Auto dealerships in southwestern Connecticut promoted their Presidents Day sales Monday in an attempt to attract buyers looking for a discount.
Key Hyundai on Bridgeport Avenue was one dealership that saw a boost in sales. The company says that it was the first time in three months that it delivered more than 15 cars in a weekend.
The Key Hyundai Auto Group believes that it was the company's sales campaign that boosted sales. The dealership sent ads to 12,000 loyal customers, informing them about current offers. One offer was a rebate of up to $6,000 for trade-ins.
"We had a funny feeling that this weekend we were going to be busy," sales consultant Mike Riccelli says. "We had a lot of phone calls going into the weekend for people scheduling test drives and calling, asking where we were."
Park City Ford in Bridgeport also got customers but to a lesser extent. Owner Dave Flint says he had better than average incentives to offer, but his customers are not spending like before.
