Ewen Dewitt was sentenced Thursday to 40 years in prison for the death of Julie Minogue.

In March, Dewitt accepted a plea deal that called for him to serve 40 years for murdering Minogue with an ax inside her Milford condo in December 2022.

Minogue's death led to new legislation aimed at helping domestic violence victims by increasing the use of GPS monitoring to track the movements of offenders.
