Crews cleaned up debris Tuesday following the demolition of a Milford beach house after an apparent construction mishap.

The incident happened on Cooper Avenue near Silver Sands State Park.

According to officials, the house had been raised up on stilts to prevent major flooding. They say the house shifted, fell and caused a minor arm injury to one crew member.

Firefighters decided to demolish the home because it posed a danger to those who lived next door. They say those people were forced to evacuate.

"I heard big booms and I went running out, two of the men were under the house, I said 'should I call 911?' and they said 'no' and I got ice for them because they have minor injuries," says Joan Perugini, of Milford.

According to the homeowner, he and his wife had just renovated their home and have lived there for 11 years. He says they had been elevating the home to get it up to code following Superstorm Sandy and planned on moving back in in three weeks.

The homeowner says he also just wanted to make sure his neighbors were OK.

OSHA will investigate the incident.
