More than 100 Milford veterans were honored Sunday at a celebration held outdoors in the summer-like weather.
The event, which was one part of the annual "Day for a Vet" program, brought veterans outside the New Haven VA hospital for some sunshine and acknowledgement of their hard work.
"The purpose of today's event was to get the men and women in the VA hospital out of the hospital for a day of entertainment, socializing and some good food," Michael Rose, of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, says. "The Milford community came together to help the VFW and we hope we accomplished that."
The veterans were greeted by the Milford Volunteers Fife and Drum Corps while a U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard presented colors in the parking lot.
