A mobile food pantry responsible for delivering thousands of meals to families in Bridgeport has hit a major roadblock.
Officials at the Bishop Jean Williams Food Pantry, which is part of Park City Initiative, tell News 12 the transmission on the mobile food pantry vehicle blew a few weeks ago. The problem is now endangering the entire program.
"We are needing help this week as soon as possible so we don't have to stop serving people," says Pastor Mary Green.
Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim has arranged for a temporary vehicle to help out with food deliveries. However, the organization still needs to get its own vehicle repaired.
The food pantry has set up an emergency fund to help get the work done.
"We need to raise $3,000 and we need your help so please go to the
GoFundMe page and help us," says Green.
