Norwalk leaders held a meeting Tuesday and called on the public to help them stop crime in the city.

The meeting was held after a stray bullet passed through a child?s window Sunday at the Washington Village Housing Complex. The mayor, police officials, the housing authority and the Family and Children?s Agency were all at the meeting.

The goal of the meeting was to update residents on what police are doing to keep people safe. Some of those items include increased patrols and extra funding for police overtime.

However, police said they need help from residents too. Mayor Dick Moccia said residents need to let police know when crimes and illegal activities occur.

?We have to have them, if they see it, they can [contact police] anonymously without fears or intimidation,? Moccia said. ?But the neighbors have to get involved and they have to take back their area.?
