A new Metropolitan Transportation Authority performance survey shows that two out of every 10 trains in the New York City subway system run late.
According to the report, the trains that are making straphangers wait the most are number lines, which run at least five minutes late nearly 30 percent of the time.
This problem will ring true for many Bronx commuters during the next several weekends, when service on the number 2 train will be suspended from 96th Street to 149th Street and Grand Concourse. Shuttle buses will be replacing the 2 train until Nov. 10.
The measuring systems used in the MTA survey excluded train delays caused by emergencies or track work. According to officials, such approach better reflects straphangers? experience.
