A New Haven police sergeant was terminated on Friday for several violations of department policies.

Shayna Kendall, a former department spokeswoman, was terminated following an internal affairs investigation.

The exact cause for her firing was not specified in a news release sent from the department.

“It’s unfortunate that these events took place,” said New Haven police Chief Karl Jacobson. “If an officer acts in such a way as to undermine the public's trust in our department, they will lose the privilege to serve New Haven."
